Falling...

Falling...

Falling...

This was not how Sandy had expected to die.

Careening downwards, into this dark, misty oblivion; a pretty unconventional way to go, really. She was suprised she wasn't panicking - perhaps that was Ashur.

Wait, Ashur? Who was that again? Come to think of it, why was she falling? She couldn't remember how she'd gotten here - where had she been? She thought hard, trying to remember...

HROOOOOONK!

...and then she woke up.

Drowsily, she looked around. She was in a seat on a rundown looking train - as she had been before she'd fallen asleep, she remembered. She was home on leave for a couple of weeks, pending a transfer...somewhere, the Navy probably hadn't even decided yet. Looking out the window, she could see the train slowing to a stop at a station platform - her station, she noted.

She stood up, grabbed her belongings (there wasn't much - just a change of clothes and personal items) and walked to the door.

Time to go home.

With two sets of hands, the job progressed in record time. It was always good to work with another professional, Agatha thought, even - or, perhaps especially - one as unlikely as Val. Her friend had always been a woman of many talents - she couldn't say she'd met many doctors trained in mechanics. Regardless of her qualifications, Val had been a welcome sight this last year.

"Lunch sounds great, actually." She said, checking the clock bolted to the warehouse wall. "We made great time, so I should have an hour or two to kill. Hmm? Oh, right." Agatha hadn't even noticed the growing number of oily smudges adorning her face and overalls. After making sure her tools were in order, Agatha had shrugged out of her overalls and led the other woman to the small bathroom behind the garage office.

"So, how is our police chief lately, anyway?" She asked as they started scrubbing up. "I don't think I've seen him for a while, actually."

With another delivery done, Lucas was heading back down the street for yet another job.

He dug the money he earned deeply in his pockets; even in a part of the city like this you had to look out for low-grade thieves, especially with kids around his own age. Either way, the young boy would try to avoid eye contact with anyone if he could help it, if only for his own sake. When more wealthy citizens walked by, they usually eyed him with the same suspicion as they did with other miscreants, which was only natural, but still hurt the blonde child deep inside.

It made him feel all the more lonesome. He didn't really ever take the time to just relax or "hang out" with...well, anyone. He rarely talked unless taking requests or delivering. He tried to be polite when doing so, however.

Letting out a small, stressed sigh, he looked over at the abandoned theater in front of him. It was enough to get him to smile a bit. He knew it wasn't exactly a magician's theater; probably once used for plays or something, but it still got him into a bit of a daydream. Once he became a magician, he'd bring smiles to people's faces. The looks he'd be getting would be ones of astonishment; not suspicion or scrutiny. That was something he truly wanted...

It was then he realized he shouldn't be dreaming in the middle of the street. if he was inattentive for too long, he might attract trouble...

So, he continued on his way, down the street, trying his best to avoid any pickpockets along the way.
